This time the road took us to a sweet surfing spot, at the tip of Denmark. (yes it was cold) – called Cold Hawaii – or Klitmøller! Surfer’s paradise? Definitely.
It is a very popular windsurfing and kitesurfing spot, holding some awesome waves for surfing too with the offshore wind. We spotted a small beach break inside the bay as well – which is awesome for beginner surfers.
Denmark is beautiful, the moody landscape stayed hugged in the fog for the first part of our days, sometimes the sun would peak out, but it was mostly raining!
Here, you can truly experience the nature at play and witness the amazing forces let loose through the heavy swell of the Atlantic Ocean, driven from Iceland the Faroe Islands by the north-westerly winds to finally end up beating against the Danish coast. The wind, the waves and the crude and unspoiled nature constitute the epitome of the urban holiday village of Klitmøller. Located in Thy – The North Sea to one side and Nationalpark Thy to the other – Klitmøller lies in a region crammed with nature. It is a charming small fishing hamlet where, to this date, fish is still landed from the small fishing boats hauled onto the beach.
A little tip for traveling to Denmark:
Bring something warm. It’s cold. Also – the thickest wetsuit in your closet will be much needed.
I am definitely not used to the winter or cold water surfing anymore! Too much time in Bali and a sweet summer in Patagonia haven’t really made me prepared for this weather! We got sick very soon…
At this opportunity, I would love to have CBD oil with me (I, unfortunately, ran out of it weeks ago and I’m patiently waiting for my next batch!) I have been supplementing with CBD oil daily while traveling (or staying at home) for the past year!
Plain and simple, I like to maintain a healthy and consistent morning routine 365 days of the year regardless of where I am in the world. It has a LOT of benefits, besides helping you healthy! It’s awesome for people with sleep problems, anxiety, nausea, sickness or stress! And no, it doesn’t make you high and yes it is completely legal!
Life update: I have spent a beautiful week and some more in Denmark and Hamburg, with my friend Moritz. Next stop – Slovenia. My plan is to spend 2 months in Europe now and then head back to Squamish and continue with my photography!
