A beautifully light breeze flows around the forest that surrounds our house. A feeling, sensation of stillness but not entirely. I don’t think there is anything really still about the wind, fresh and light maybe but not still. Yet I feel still. Grounded to be home. Back in Argentina.
Bariloche brings that out to me, similar to Bali. But no matter how many places I’ve traveled to in the last 4 or 5 years, (hitting over 40 countries now), I still need a week or two to acclimatize. Just to be sure. That first week or three of being in a new place again, I let myself feel, whatever I need to feel. I don’t work, or write, usually, I don’t even take any photos. Just relax and let my days be. Well, that period is officially gone. I felt called to write today finally.
I arrived in Bariloche, on the 18th of September, today is October 7th. Almost 3 weeks. Yes, it feels right.
Meanwhile, during my “break” I’ve enjoyed everything and more that Bariloche has to offer this time of the year. This year’s winter has been more than generous, with weekly snowfalls, even in the spring. A trip to Argentina was more or less a last-minute decision. After watching my friends bathe in powder all July and August, I figured this was it. I’m going in.

I have never snowboarded or skied in Bariloche or anywhere in South America before in my life! I do appreciate the summer season, therefore the thought of spending a double winter has never occurred to me. I thought people who were doing that were crazy! Yet here I am though.
But, there is something about it that only a few people know and that is handing the poor weather season in Squamish. For the last 4 years, I have been escaping the dark and the rain that happens during the fall months in BC and traveling to either Bali or Italy to surf and have a good ol’ time. This year, I came to chase the sunshine in Patagonia and I’m not regretting any decisions here! It has been nothing but beautiful bluebird weather ever since we got here. It was a good time to start training as well. Practicing and pushing my body, see where it takes me.
Shoutout to Bite Snacks. Providing me with their delicious sustainably sourced protein bars, everywhere in the world!
By the way, I have uploaded a YT after a while of procrastinating. I decided to “online journal” or “publicly track” my snowboarding progress. Sort of like a personal challenge but sharing it with whoever might find my tips useful. I know there are a lot of girls out there who ski or snowboard and are always looking for tips on snowboard exercises, stretching, diet tips and tips on tricks to improve their riding. I’m certainly not the best out there, but I do love the sport and I think sharing is caring. So let’s get out there, together!
I do make the quality of my food a priority, as well as I always make sure to eat the supplements that I need, along with a whole food plant-based diet!
My favorite CBD oil is Nuleaf Naturals!
Next year, I will be taking part in the Free Ride World Qualifiers tour, for the first time in my life. No doubt here that I’m SHAKING only with a thought of going down that road but I have been thinking about it and wanting to do it for a while. Nervous? Oh yes. Excited? Oh YES. I heard our body cannot tell the difference between excitement and being nervous. So I’m taking the chance to be excited! And see where life can take me, right? Who knows what will happen and that is the beauty of it!
