Oh, the beautiful Callaghan valley.
This past winter, I’ve had quite a few opportunities to go explore the Callaghan Valley and Journeyman Peak area. Located just south of Whistler in the remote Callaghan Valley, and about a 40-minute drive from Squamish, the staging area for the lodge is easy to find. From there, it’s about a 13.6 cat track to the lodge that you can either access with sleds, a cat, or even a helicopter. I have been fortunate enough to get some filming opportunities in the valley for two film projects I have been working on, and they gave us a cat ride for the day.
From the lodge, the backcountry terrain around the Journeyman Peak is very easily accessible and I would highly recommend it.

The terrain is mellow, but fun. With good snow, it can be really good. Since you start at around 1500 m elevation, it’s not long before you hit the alpine! Journeyman Peak sits at 2134m. In the right conditions, the north slopes of this peak offer some of the finest skiing from the summit, all the way down to the lodge, for about 1000 vertical meters.

Sauna at the lodge in Callaghan Valley
The sauna and creek are just a few steps from the lodge. Indulge in a sauna session and cold plunge after a day in the backcountry.
